The International Tourism Fair of the Amazon (FITA) gets to its fourth edition in 2008.
The event will be held at the Hangar – Fairs and Conventions Center of the Amazon, in Belém, on December 4th through 7th. The FITA is the great opportunity for the world to get to know the tourist products and services supplied by the Amazon Region. More than 18 thousand visitors are expected in the event.
Created by the Pará State Tourism Company (Paratur) with the objective of expanding, promoting and trading, in an integrated way, the various tourist segments of the countries that make up the Amazon Region and of other world markets, the FITA 2008 will highlight environment-related issues, which are fundamental in the Amazon.
This event is aimed at travel agents and operators, representatives of transport companies, hotel executives, official tourism agencies, the specialized press, tourism professionals, professors and students. The structure of FITA includes the Tourist Products Fair, theme areas, technical and scientific programs, trading exchange, and cultural shows in addition to promoting missions such as famturs and press-trips, which support trips of operators and journalists to Pará, respectively. Thus, Paratur expects to gather a high number of professionals to disseminate and share experiences, information, and technologies in behalf of tourism as a factor of employment and income generation.
Since its first version in 2002, FITA has presented the supply of the region’s tourist products as a unique block to tourist markets, and has consolidated this activity as a feasible alternative to social and economic development by attracting new investors to the region. Moreover, integration strengthens the demand of tourists (both domestic and international) in view of this unique and rich ecosystem, who come and get to know the historical and cultural diversity of the Amazon. In its past edition, in 2006, the FITA had 96 national and international buyers (operators) and more than 30 tourism-specialized communications media, most of which from abroad..
